• The students will work with tempera, oil pastels, clay, collage and a variety of other mediums and will create artworks that are fun and exploratory. We will not use pencils or focus on details, rather the kids will be encouraged to make big sweeping gestures with thick paintbrushes and oil pastels to get satisfying colour results. Unlike our older students, this very young batch will create art that is more about free painting. This course is truly about the journey and not the destination.

  • Would you like to fly beside the Marvel Superheroes or design your own protective shield? Come along with us, as we venture into the exciting world of Marvel filled with astonishing heroes and futuristic landscapes. In this course your child will explore concepts of figure drawing, perspective, scale and much more through the famous marvel characters such as Hulk, Ironman etc. Whilst exploring character designing objectives like shape, form and proportion will also be introduced to the students.

  • We have taught 6 different Drawing and Mixed media courses between the ages of 5 and 8- That’s about 50 project in all. For this course we will choose 8 of our favourite drawing and mixed media lessons showcasing a variety of themes, mediums and techniques. Our DMM courses are designed with a strong focus on teaching the elements and principles of Art while parallelly encouraging out of the box thinking and innovation.

  • In this class we will use paper from magazines, old notebooks, cardboard boxes and more. With a little glue, a scissor and some clever hands we will create our own imaginary animals, birds, robots and more. Whether working with collage, origami or folded paper chains, we will make our own while also learning about artists around the world who use paper as a medium to create.

  • On popular demand, we've introduced this basic drawing course to introduce our middle school students to fundamental drawing techniques. They will work on understand simple grid drawing and perspective drawing, shading to create a 3D illusion, learn to create an image to explain a concept and more. We will learn about famous artists like Leonardo Da Vinci, William Kentridge, Broota, Bikash Bhattacharya and Laxma Goud. As always, we pick themes that kids of this age love and that bring out the best in them. Superheros, Dragons, trick perspectives and more.

  • A great tool for the stressful times we live in. An Art journal is a way for your pre-teen to express his or her feelings in a constructive way. Each journal will combine art and words to express thoughts and feelings in a creative way. Using fun prompts, students will explore themes and learn techniques that will change the way they think about making art. And the best part - there are no rules and mistakes in art journaling! It’s all about self-expression. Art journaling can go a long way in improving mood, lowering anxiety, and fostering a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. All forms of creativity are welcome!

  • This course begins with experiments with warm colours and cool colours using pastels and paint. Using some of the children's favorite books like 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and 'Elmer the Elephant', we will explore the crayon resist technique with ink, using tissue paper, a toothbrush and an ear bud to learn various techniques with paint.  This is a fun workshop that combines two of their favorite things, storytelling and art!

    We are delighted to use art as a way to introduce children between the ages of 5 and 8 years to the important ideas presented in the series "Our Planet" by the World Wildlife Fund. The themes would be Frozen Worlds, Coastal seas, Jungles etc. and most importantly "What can I do?". This will help them develop a sensitivity to the natural world, appreciate its wonders, and feel like they can make a difference as an individual. Each day we will start with an excerpt from the series, follow that with a discussion and reflection and then create an artwork on the theme.

    While many of our students are still not yet at the stage where they need to build a college portfolio, building a strong foundation and encouraging good studio art habits should start right away. Themes could range from Dragon Drawing to Portraits to drawing Architectural themes and more. While we will introduce new art concepts and techniques everyday - each student will be encouraged to express themselves in their own unique way. This class will include peer review and critique where students learn to give and receive constructive criticism. The goal is that our students continue to build on their portfolio through the summer.

    The sculpture class will explore techniques like coiling, slab, pinching and students will learn to use clay tools to add details to their sculptures. Students also get an exposure to working with Plaster of Paris and use recycled objects to create fantastic and whimsical sculptures. We will reference sculptors like Rodin, Subodh Gupta, Henry Moore, K.G.Subramanyan and many others. Students can opt to fire a few of the articles they create at our studio. Students will also get a change to make their own pots and sculptures using an electric wheel. For this class we have guest artist teachers who skillfully guide the students.

    Hands, clay and fire. Ceramic pottery is an art form based on very simple materials and tools entwined with the unique creativity of an individual. Students learn different techniques, including hand shaping, casting, throwing on the potter’s wheel and more. For the first time at RainbowFish, we will introduce various types of glaze, determining colour and texture. Students experience the joy of seeing unexpected but beautiful surprises from the kiln.
