Many of the greatest artists were inspired by words… artist Arpana Kaur was inspired by the famous poet Rumi, Contemporary Artist Shilpa Gupta made an installation work inspired by poets who had been imprisoned for speaking their mind. KG Subramanyan’s works were referred to as story paintings because of their narrative qualities. Can we use words in our artwork? A look at typography and calligraphy too. This course looks at words and art. Its not all serious… we would be inspired by limericks and look for that twist in the tale.
