This exciting course includes portraiture and figure drawing with an emphasis on creating a memorable character. The characters will have back stories and students will learn how to add small details that support the character’s age, personality and context. Further into the course, we will introduce a narrative element to create a backdrop for the characters that is consistent and rich with meaning. We will learn by observing and discussion artworks by major artists around the world and incorporate those learnings into our own works. This course will include descriptive writing, presentation and constructive peer critique.
