Out of stockWhat do lion King, Toy Story, Nemo and every other animated character we love have in common? They’re all part of the Disney universe. This course will introduce your child to the understanding of how to being with simple shapes and assemble them to create complex characters while of course having a whole lot of fun. We will watch clips from our favorite movies and draw character we know as well as invent our own.

Out of stockStudents will get the chance to make their own pots, bowl and mugs using an electric potters wheel before using simple hand building techniques to add fun elements to their pieces. They can opt to glaze and fire a few of the pieces using our very own studio kiln. We will reference sculptors like Rodin, K.G.Subramanyan, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and many others. For this class we have a guest teacher who is an artist in his own right. He has regular ceramic exhibitions at Lalit Kala Academic and other venues.

Dragons, gnomes, genies and unicorns are all part of our magical journey! In this course, observation and imagination come together, as a range of stories and characters will be explored. We will learn the fundamentals of shape, form and a whole host of colouring and shading techniques that will bring your ideas to life.

Out of stockWe will explore various techniques using both oil pastels and dry pastels to while we learn about various kinds of colour palettes. Pastels are a very forgiving and fun medium making it ideal for our younger group. Students will also learn to work with charcoal since the smudging techniques are very similar.

Out of stockThis unique course introduces our young learners to an exploration of colour and pattern. The students will create artworks using both woodcut printmaking and collaging techniques. They will create their own designs for blocks, which our in-house printmaker will then carve using printers tools. Students will experience the entire process including inking their blocks and transferring patterns onto their artwork in a carefully selected colour pallette. During this course students will be inspired by important print makers and collage artists as well as artists known for their focus on colour like Albers, Raza and Rothko.

Out of stockThis course assumes that students are comfortable with drawing shapes and contour of animals and objects… Students will then be guided on how they can use pencil or colour pencil shading to create highlights and shadows that take their drawing from 2 to 3D… we will also cover important art concepts like creating an optical illusion using shading techniques - Trompe L’oiel and some study of colour theory. This versatile medium is a great one to carry while traveling as it is easy to carry and there is no set up involved.

Out of stockThis course takes you from beginner to intermediate with water colours. We will work on a variety of techniques including how to control the wetness of the brush to create different effects. We will focus on proportion, contour drawing, composition, colour theory and light to create various outcomes. Students will learn a good mix of experimentation and process driven projects and will include – still life, landscapes, portraits, animal portraits and so much more. Both new-bees and students with some experience looking to learn more are welcome.

Students will learn how to translate their drawings and designs into screen stencils, and print them both, on paper and fabric. Through this course students will gain an appreciation of the screen- print medium, and its relevance in the modern day world. It is a creative course that embraces experimentation and art whilst laying down a solid foundation. Students, both beginners and experienced alike, will leave the course with a working knowledge of the entire printing process. You can come with existing personal projects or simply with an enquiring mind. We can’t wait to start!

Out of stockThe Art lab course was designed to introduce our students to the very important concept of understanding the elements of art through small experiments and explorations. The 6 elements of art students will learn about are line, shape, form, colour, value and texture. Each class will focus on one element, first through the work of important artists followed by group discussion and then an activity. In the final weeks students will work on projects combining the various elements effectively in a composition.
